eco-friendly quilted throw / cot quilt

I'll be adding a few more quilts soon but here is one of six that is available now: http://www.pinchriver.com.au/

Pinch River products are made with longevity in mind rather than following trends that can quickly become unfashionable. They are an investment and could be considered heirloom pieces as they are made well, using quality materials with classic designs and colours that won't date.

Second hand wares

Pinch River is now offering a select range of 2nd hand wares in original 'as-is' condition for sale through the website. Quality products will be added from time-to-time and will range from antique to vintage and modern - so there should be something to suit a variety of different tastes and styles. I styled the first image to show an example of how the chairs can work in situ...

'Pinch River believes in quality craftsmanship and ethically made products as well as minimising our footprint on this planet by promoting and supporting re-use, repair and recycling. The 2nd hand wares on offer here will be an eclectic range of products from furniture to bric-a-brac to enable you to purchase one-off pieces to add to your interior - highlighting your unique sense of style in decorating your home.'

Detailed information about the antique chairs shown here can be found in the listing.

Refurbished furniture

I'm so happy to be sharing one of the projects I've been working on behind-the-scenes!

Pinch River is proud to launch the first refurbished furniture items for sale!

Here you can see the lovely antique timber shield-back chairs in their 'before' state (first 4 images) and then the 'after' images. Although they were nice before aren't they just spectacular now!

Before being professionally stripped and spray painted the chairs were re-glued to strengthen and stabilise them. I didn't want to take away everything authentic and original about them otherwise they would just look like reproductions, so there are still subtle hints of age and use under the paint job that add to their character. They were then professionally re-upholstered in Pinch River 'wattle bird in the bottle brush' design in (C1) Calistemon Red on Latte.

As you can see from the images, the chairs are charming and look great from any angle, making them ideal to position anywhere in a room. They lend themselves to period homes as well as French provincial, shabby chic and eclectic interiors.

The chairs are currently in my shop window display until the end of March (image below - I swapped it out this morning), but are available for sale through my website - keep in mind much love along with many hands and hours have gone into transforming these chairs...

Quilted throw / cot quilt

Another quilted throw / cot quilt finished and listed in the shop for Wholesale, Trade and Retail - remember the price includes GST and items are shipped free within Australia! So no surprises at check-out.

All quilts are pieced-fabric, no two are the same. They are made from my handprinted fabrics which are on hemp / organic cotton or natural linen basecloth. They are filled with a beautifully soft bamboo / cotton blend (50/50) wadding and backed with natural seeded unbleached calico.

(The rainbow effect in the photo is from the louvre windows above where it was photographed)

Pinch River handprinted eco fabric cot quilt / quilted throw

Now that autumn is here and the temperatures are starting to drop in the evenings we know that the cooler weather is approaching.

So it's nearly time to start thinking about snuggling up and keeping warm which is why I'm currently working on a batch of quilted throws such as this one pictured.

The limited production pieced-fabric throws are made with Pinch River hand printed and plain fabric on hemp / organic cotton and natural linen basecloth. Printed in Australia using water-based / solvent-free inks.

Perfect as cot quilts for parents looking for eco nursery products or a little something special for the grown-ups as a throw on your bed or lounge. Also ideal for loved ones overseas or as a souvenir of Australia to take back home with you.

Quilt sizes vary but are approximately 110cmW x 130cmH or 120cmW x 150cmH. The print is on the front only. The quilt is filled with a machine washable bamboo / cotton blend wadding (50/50) and fully lined with natural seeded unbleached calico. The wadding is stitched in place to front panel and there is double stitching all around the edge. A Pinch River natural cotton product label is sewn into the side seam. No two quilts are the same.

Now available to purchase Wholesale, Trade and Retail from my website.

This is one that went to a lovely home last year... more versions are coming so stay tuned!

Pinch River window display at Trina Day Architects

The other week I shared my business banner, here, and said I'd be back to share why I had it printed... so, here I am to share!

The banner was printed as the backdrop for a window display I am doing for the whole month of March at Trina Day Architects, 639 Elizabeth Street Waterloo (Redfern).

The top two images are of the empty space. The 3rd image down is after I hung the banner and the rest are various shots once I had set up my display. As you can see it's a little hard to get a good shot both inside and out due to the size of the space, or more so the access to it as well as the reflection on the glass from outside.
(As you'll see in the 2nd and 3rd images the bus stop is right outside, so lots of people getting to see this on a daily basis)

The display consists of a Pinch River throw filled with beautiful eco bamboo wadding (can also be used as a cot quilt), assorted Pinch River cushions, a Pinch River Mid-century Modern floor lamp in 'Corduroy Pathway' (C2) on natural linen* and one of my 'Grevillea' tea towels (on the tray which is on the table).

*NB: the floor lamp is a proto-type at this stage only but hopefully this and other lamps will be in production this year.
