Happy Australia Day

When I think of Australia I think of her in images and scents...the scent of the Australian bush, the eucalyptus trees, the scent of the ocean...while I can't share those scents here I can share some images I have captured of the Australia I love...

Coastal Wattle in flower - the green and gold of Australia

Kangaroo Paw

White sandy beaches with crystal clear water :: south-west Western Australia

Long hot days at the beach, under the umbrella

Little Nippers at Caves Beach (the photo that inspired my notebooks and cards)

Wild, rugged coastlines

Our natural history

Our man-made history

Our sunrises over the water in the east

Our sunsets over the water in the west

A quick hello and update...

I'm just quietly working on 3 new repeat designs for yardage but have also been making some more cushions and table runners for my online stores, plus planning some new products to mix it up a bit... not much to show yet... but thought I'd share some pieced-fabric cushion variations... remember you can purchase my fabric as yardage and make your own craft projects. I will soon have more yardage options available with my first 3 designs printed on off-white hemp/organic cotton base-cloth (in addition to the current 'stone' colour) in a new colour-way each, so stay tuned for that too...

How cute are these guys...

Just because my last few posts have been very wordsy (sometimes there are no images to go with what you have to say), I thought I would just post this - for no reason at all other than to show my two curious cats watching from above...

The mystery of what 2011 holds...

I'm a bit behind with welcoming in the new year on my blog. It's been very interesting reading people's reflections on the year that's gone and their resolutions about the year ahead.

I didn't consciously make any resolutions this new year, I think perhaps they have been developing more over the past year or so as started to put my life back together. If anything I see the first part of this year having me tie up some loose ends, the aftermath of the past few years, but definitely the focus is on more positive things for myself personally and for my business. What the year will actually bring is a complete mystery...

On the list of all things personal in the immediate future is:
  • I've applied to do a little handbuilt pottery/ceramics course. I started looking around in about November last year because I was just seeing all these gorgeous ceramics around and it reminded me of when I was at uni... deciding whether to major in textiles or ceramics. I contacted Newcastle Potters but their short course has an extensive waiting list and the only other option was through Hunter Institute of TAFE. I'm still waiting to hear back about the schedule so I hope it suits me. It starts in March... can't wait...
  • I've started a new blog which has been on my mind to do for a while now. It's called 727m2 - a garden diary and is about the journey of my garden over the past five years since arriving here. I find gardening very therapeutic and it definitely another creative outlet. So the plan is to continue with the garden and some other projects around the house, time for a new, fresh look inside the house and definitely along the lines of eco products
I think that's about it really but obviously other stuff will unfold along the way both personally and for the business. I've been doing lots already, am really enjoying making plans for the business and watching it inch forward, always thinking creatively these days which is such a nice change from where my thoughts were but that's my old story and this is my new one... hello 2011 :)
